Why it matters
The digest's tiering puts editorial judgment about representation ahead of narrative quality and personal taste, which is the outlet's stated method for telling readers which premieres are worth their limited time.
Key Facts
- From Far Away and Magic Knight Rayearth appear in the digest's top tier of progressive potential.
- The digest ranks premieres by feminist-relevant themes first, narrative quality second, and personal preference third.
- Direct sequels, shorts, very young children's shows, unlicensed titles, and batch releases are excluded from premiere reviews.
- Batch releases remain eligible for end-of-season recommendations.
The digest places From Far Away and Magic Knight Rayearth in its top tier of progressive potential, and lists Firefly Wedding, The World's Strongest Witch, Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom, and Hello, I Am a Witch and My Crush Wants Me to Make a Love Potion! among the season's titles.
The digest is organized around a stated hierarchy: feminist-relevant themes first, overall narrative quality second, personal preference third. Premieres with progressive themes land at the top of the list; those with regressive ideas land at the bottom.
Anime Feminist also sets out what the digest will not cover. Direct sequels, shorts, shows aimed at very young children, unlicensed titles, and batch releases are excluded from premiere reviews, though batch releases remain eligible for end-of-season recommendations. Late-release shows get separate reviews. The outlet says it wants more funding before it can widen the range of perspectives across more episodes.
- From Far Away (Episodes 1-3): A '90s shojo isekai adaptation about a girl who may be destined to destroy the world and the young man who cannot bring himself to kill her
- Magic Knight Rayearth (Episodes 1-2): A loving adaptation
- Firefly Wedding
- The World's Strongest Witch
- Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom
- Hello, I Am a Witch and My Crush Wants Me to Make a Love Potion!
