Acoustic Energy Enters Japan Under Delfin Import Deal

Delfin Japan has signed an official import agreement with Acoustic Energy and began bringing the British speaker brand into Japan on August 1, 2026. The launch opens with two 40th anniversary models, the AE1 40th Anniversary Edition and the AE2 40th Anniversary Edition, with a wider range from entry class to high-end large floorstanding speakers to follow.

The agreement was signed by Delfin Japan, based in Ota-ku, Tokyo, and covers import and sales of Acoustic Energy products in Japan. The brand was founded in London in 1987, and its first speaker, the AE1, was designed by engineer Phil Jones as a compact monitor that delivered dynamics and resolution previously associated with much larger enclosures.

The anniversary AE1 was designed from scratch because the original parts were no longer in production, and the company says it kept the traditional dual front bass reflex ports and metal dome tweeter. Acoustic Energy is now headquartered in the Cotswolds near Bristol, with Mat Spandl as CTO.
