Atari Confirms Japanese Release for Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered

Atari's email answers the open question from September, when the Steam page was region-locked and domestic release looked unlikely, so Japanese players now have confirmation ahead of the November 3 launch.

Atari Confirms Japanese Release for Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered

Atari told Game Spark by email that the remaster of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee will get an official Japanese release, console versions included. The game was previously thought to be skipping Japan. Pipeworks, the studio behind the 2002 GameCube original, is developing it. It packs 12 kaiju, among them Godzilla and King Ghidorah, and 8 stages, plus new online multiplayer. Release is set for November 3, 2026.

The Japanese Xbox Series X|S store page is already live. The PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 store pages cannot be confirmed yet, and Atari expects them to open in the future. The Steam page became viewable from Japan in mid-October, when the store description was translated and a Japanese-supported demo went up.

That demo runs local and online versus play plus single-player, and distribution ends October 27. The remaster adds online multiplayer to the local play of the GameCube version, and the unlock system now lets players open kaiju, stages, and gallery items in any order. Each kaiju also gets its own single-player campaign.
