Canon's Printing Press and CT Scanner Win Top Machine Design Award

Canon's varioPRINT iX1700 commercial printing press received the top Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, and the Aquilion Rise CT scanner won the Japan Design Promotion Association Award in the 56th Machine Industry Design Award IDEA. It is the third time in two consecutive years the Canon Group has taken the top prize. The press is a high-speed inkjet digital press, and the CT scanner supports standing and sitting exams.

The Machine Industry Design Award, run by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun since 1970, evaluates functionality, appearance, marketability, sociality, and safety. Canon's varioPRINT iX1700 commercial inkjet press, capable of 170 A4 sheets per minute, won the top Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. The Aquilion Rise CT scanner, developed with Keio University and supporting supine, standing, and sitting exams, won the Japan Design Promotion Association Award. Both products also hold the iF Design Award. This is the 19th time the Canon Group has won an IDEA award, and the third time in two consecutive years it has taken the top prize. Canon says it will continue to create products that highly integrate performance and design.
