Kyosuke Motomi's shojo manga "Dengeki Daisy" is getting a television anime adaptation, with Studio Deen handling production and Aniplex behind the project. The announcement came via a teaser website that opened on Tuesday, following a countdown teased by Aniplex on Monday. The anime is set to premiere in 2027. Sota Ueno, who directed "Days With My Stepsister" and "SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table," is directing the series. Sawako Hirabayashi, known for "Wolf Girl & Black Prince" and "Delicious Party♡Precure," is writing the series scripts. Ayaka Murakami, also from "Days With My Stepsister," is designing the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music. The manga originally ran in Shogakukan's Monthly Betsucomi magazine from 2007 to 2013, spanning 16 volumes. Viz Media published the series in English under its Shojo Beat imprint. The story follows orphan Teru Kurebayashi, who exchanges messages with a mysterious figure named DAISY through a cell phone left by her deceased brother, while the enigmatic Tasuku Kurosaki keeps appearing to help her. Motomi celebrated the announcement with an illustration.
Kyosuke Motomi drew a celebratory illustration for the announcement, which she posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a message thanking readers. "Thanks to all of you readers. Thank you very much!" she wrote. "It will air in 2027. I am really looking forward to it too."
Motomi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Monthly Betsucomi magazine in 2007 and ended it in 2013. Shogakukan published the 16th and final compiled book volume in February 2014. Viz Media's Shojo Beat imprint published the series in English. The publisher describes the story as follows: "After orphan Teru Kurebayashi loses her beloved older brother, she finds solace in the messages she exchanges with DAISY, an enigmatic figure who can only be reached through the cell phone her brother left her. Meanwhile, mysterious Tasuku Kurosaki always seems to be around whenever Teru needs help... Could DAISY be a lot closer than Teru thinks?"
Motomi recently launched a new manga titled Yaoyoruzu Toriatsukai Setsumeisho (The Instruction Manual to Anything and Everything) in Monthly Betsucomi on January 13. Her Queen's Quality manga ended in February 2025 and received an epilogue chapter in April that same year. Shogakukan published the manga's 25th and final compiled book volume in May 2025. Queen's Quality is a sequel to Motomi's earlier QQ Sweeper manga, but according to Viz Media the story can stand alone. Viz Media has also released Motomi's Beast Master and QQ Sweeper manga in English.
