Luca, the Dragon Vet Will End at Eight Volumes
Announced two days after the seventh volume shipped and with the final arc already running, the ending leaves Kodansha USA's print run of the English edition roughly an arc behind the Japanese finish line it will now have to close out.

Yuna Hirasawa said on her X account on Friday that Luca, the Dragon Vet will finish with the eighth compiled volume. The manga entered its final arc on August 30. Hirasawa launched the series in Kodansha's Morning two in September 2022 with medical supervision from Hoko Tsuda, and Kodansha published the seventh volume on September 18. Kodansha USA Publishing licensed the manga and began print release on July 28.
Hirasawa announced the ending on her own X account, two days after Kodansha shipped volume seven in Japan. The final arc had already begun on August 30, so the eighth volume closes a serialization that ran in Morning two since September 2022, with Hoko Tsuda credited as medical supervisor.
Kodansha USA Publishing holds the license and started print on July 28, meaning English readers are several volumes short of the conclusion. The same publisher also handles Hirasawa's My Journey to Her, which won the Best Digital Comic award at the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards and gets a print release in October.
