MBC Game Studio Debuts 1001 Threads of Mizan With Flying Carpets

A first-time studio with a former Ubisoft creative director is building a co-op action title around a setting that Bonde says games have rarely taken up, and it is doing so with a remote team drawn partly from the region itself.

MBC Game Studio Debuts 1001 Threads of Mizan With Flying Carpets

MBC Game Studio announced its debut title 1001 Threads of Mizan at Gamescom 2026's Opening Night Live. The co-op action-adventure supports up to three players and ships on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Creative Director Lars Bonde, who spent eight years at Ubisoft on Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2, told Automaton the game is set in the world of One Thousand and One Nights.

The demo showed players riding flying carpets and fighting enemies that range from ground-level foes to a giant jinn large enough to cover the sky. Bonde said the first thing he did on the project was search ArtStation for artists from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Syria, and that two Cairo-based concept artists have been involved since the early days.

The team is fully remote. Bonde described a writer based in Pakistan, a narrative lead who worked on Destiny, and an art director with a twenty-year BioWare career. The game will support Arabic and English with the same voice actors performing in both.
