Metal Slug Ultimate Collection Bundles 10 Games For 2027

The collection is the anniversary release for a series whose current activity had been the spin-off Metal Slug Tactics and a teased new mainline entry, so SNK is now selling the back catalog and the unfinished version together rather than a new game.

Metal Slug Ultimate Collection Bundles 10 Games For 2027

SNK announced METAL SLUG ULTIMATE COLLECTION during the Nintendo Direct 2026.9.9 livestream on September 9, 2026. The collection gathers 10 titles from the side-scrolling action series and is scheduled to launch in 2027. The lineup runs from the 1996 original through METAL SLUG 2, METAL SLUG X, METAL SLUG 3, METAL SLUG 4, and METAL SLUG 5, plus METAL SLUG ADVANCE, METAL SLUG 6, and METAL SLUG 7. The tenth entry is a location test version that sources describe as rarely shown to the public and never officially released. The package adds online two-player co-op with a friend invite feature, a rewind function that rolls back play by several seconds, quick save and load, and a gallery and museum feature covering series logos and visual material. Porting work is handled by M2. The release is planned for packaged and download versions, and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 owners get it alongside PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The tenth item is the one worth watching. Sources describe it as a location test version of METAL SLUG that was never officially released, included here alongside the nine mainline titles. 4Gamer frames the set as compiling all 10 titles in the series including that build, and the framing across Japanese outlets is the same: the main titles from METAL SLUG through METAL SLUG 7, plus METAL SLUG ADVANCE, plus the location test version.

Feature parity is not uniform. One outlet notes that available modes and supported content differ for each included title. What has been confirmed is online two-player co-op, the rewind function, quick save and load, screen and sound settings, speedrun and replay features, score attack, time attack, online leaderboards, and the Combat School Mode tutorial.

Announcement details diverge slightly by region. Nintendo's stream listed Switch and Switch 2 for 2027, while the METAL SLUG account added PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam for the same window. Wishlisting is open for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, with Switch wishlists to follow later.
