Odu Studios Brings Yoruba Divination To Action RPG Odu: Ancestral Nexus
The project turns Yoruba divination into a roguelike rule system, with a Rio university team carrying Afro-Brazilian religion and dance into an action RPG rather than using them as background decoration.

Odu Studios, an indie team from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, is developing the action RPG Odu: Ancestral Nexus in Rio de Janeiro. Project manager Bruno Camenietzki Amorim showed the game at Brasil Game Show 2026 in Sao Paulo on October 10. It is planned for PC via Steam and Xbox, with the release date undecided. Japanese is listed among its supported languages.
The game takes its name from a Yoruba word for fate. Amorim said the team will keep the word untranslated in the Japanese version, since it is not Portuguese. Its base is Afro-Brazilian culture: the Orisha, whom Amorim described as closer to ancestors than to gods, and the terreiro, the community space that appears in the game as a base for rebuilding the journey.
The divination itself became the mechanic. Shells are thrown onto a table at the center of the screen, and game elements sit in slots around it. Each throw strengthens some elements and weakens others, so conditions shift on every play.
