Takara Tomy has opened pre-orders for the third Mobile Police Patlabor and Zoids collaboration model kit, the Fang Griffin, on Amazon Japan. The kit is a new mold of a Fang Tiger with griffin-like wings, designed by Hideaki Tenjin and supervised by Patlabor's Yutaka Izubuchi, with world-building by Kazunori Ito. It features motorized movement and can convert to a Black Fang Tiger. Release is February 27, 2027, at 6,634 yen.
The Fang Griffin is the latest release in the Patlabor x Zoids collaboration, part of the comic adaptation project "Code Name B.U.D.D.Y." The kit is a heavily modified Fang Tiger with jet-black griffin wings and entirely new body armor. Mechanical designer Hideaki Tenjin handled the mecha design, while Patlabor's Yutaka Izubuchi supervised and scriptwriter Kazunori Ito contributed to world-building. The model runs on a single AA battery, moving forward with a four-stage head lowering and twin fangs that shoot forward. It also includes black armor parts to convert to a Black Fang Tiger form. Pre-orders are live on Amazon Japan ahead of a February 2027 release.
