Rockman: Dual Override Gameplay Trailer Debuts at Gamescom ONL 2026

The gamescom build also revealed the game's stage structure in practice. Twinkle Girl's stage is a robot exposition she has taken over, and each of its three areas has a different theme: an outdoor entrance under a blue sky, a dim indoor backyard, and an exposition grounds lit by fireworks. The stage also marks a series first in structure, since cleared stages can be restarted from the beginning, and checkpoints let players retry after falls.

Custom Chips occupy a separate slot from special weapons and do not consume energy, so they can be reused after a cooldown. The barrier chip blocks a few enemy bullets or one body blow, the charge shot chip enables a Double Charge Shot that fires two shots in succession, and Rush support grants Rush Coil as a jump pad. The Override gauge appears as a circle in the upper left of the screen and can stock up to three full rotations, with activation time lengthening based on the amount stored. When Override ends, Rockman overheats and cannot use charge shots or Custom Chips for a while. Some Custom Chips can also trigger Override automatically when health drops.

Both Rockman and enemies show scorched armor when taking damage, and the camera zooms in during Override activation and boss super moves. The previous entry, Rockman 11, used the Double Gear System, which required managing ON/OFF to avoid overheating, whereas Override's gauge fills by dealing damage. The game was announced at The Game Awards at the end of last year as the first new title in nine years, and Capcom held a boss design contest themed around a robot with a suction arm on its right arm.
