Sen-Ti-Nel Plans GM2I Ixpel Kit With Swappable Ground and Air Forms

The kit routes a 1984 Jaleco shooter through a new Sen-Ti-Nel brand and a designer known for Gundam 00, a sign the company is treating game mecha as a kit line rather than a one-off.

Sen-Ti-Nel Plans GM2I Ixpel Kit With Swappable Ground and Air Forms

Sen-Ti-Nel will release a plastic model kit of the Ixpel, the player ship from the 1984 arcade shooter Formation Z, in August 2027 at 8,800 yen. Kanetake Ebikawa refined the design from the home console port's package art. Part swapping switches the roughly 15 cm kit between ground and air forms. Takanobu Terada is producer, and molded colors plus stickers handle most of the coloring.

Terada, producer on the Super Robot Wars series, joins the project alongside Ebikawa and Takayuki Yanase. The kit uses clear parts for the head and canopy, and pull-out joints at the elbows and hips to widen posing range. Sen-Ti-Nel lists the completed set as the ground form body, a left hand part, the 105mm beam cannon, a right hand for the cannon, air form replacement parts, and stickers. Design is credited to Unitec.
