"Pathogenic" Launches on Steam, Lets Players Invade the Human Body as a Pathogen
Slug Disco and Aberrant Labs released the roguelike shooter "Pathogenic" on Steam on July 16, 2026. The game casts players as a pathogen that has invaded a human body, tasking them with fighting the immune system, rival parasites, and protozoa to achieve complete control of the host. Players choose from seven initial parasites and can collect and combine over 120 types of organelles and mutations to create powerful builds. The in-body stages are six randomly generated organ environments, from the intestines to the heart. Permanent upgrades are unlocked by collecting plasmid fragments. A 20% launch discount brings the price to 800 yen (tax included) until July 31. The game's demo, played by over 110,000 people, earned an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating on Steam, and the title accumulated over 100,000 wishlist additions before release. "Pathogenic" supports Japanese and is available for PC and Mac.
