OpenAI Revamps Codex CLI and Adds Codex Cloud at DevDay 2026
At OpenAI DevDay 2026 on September 29, OpenAI announced a major revamp of Codex CLI and a new cloud environment called Codex Cloud. The CLI adds scrollable history past the terminal limit, a fixed composer, the /agents, /fork, and /voice commands, activity analysis, and new themes. Codex Cloud reads GitHub, builds an environment, and gives each task its own virtual machine that keeps running when the developer's computer is asleep.
