KAIST Unveils ComiXR, an Open-Source XR Platform for Webtoons
KAIST researchers announced on July 21 they developed ComiXR, which they call the world's first extended reality platform for webtoons. The open-source system, led by Ian Oakley, lets users place 3D characters, speech bubbles, and sound effects in physical spaces using Meta Quest Pro. The findings were presented at DIS 2026.
