Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend Film Adds Kamoshida Short Story Bonus

The staff for the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend film announced on Saturday that first-week moviegoers in Japan will receive a bonus short story written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keeji Mizoguchi. Titled Seishun Buta Yaro wa Tea Garden no Yume o Miru, it follows Sakuta, Mai and Shoko after a shopping trip. The film opens in Japan on October 16.

Baki Gaiden: Kaioh Retsu Isekai Spin-Off Gets TV Anime

TMS Entertainment announced on Monday that Baki Gaiden: Kaioh Retsu wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō ni Kamawan, the isekai spin-off of Keisuke Itagaki's Baki franchise, is receiving a TV anime adaptation. The announcement came via TMS Anime's YouTube channel and Comic Natalie. The manga centers on the Kenpo-style master Retsu Kaioh, who reincarnates into another world after losing his life in a battle with swordsman Musashi Miyamoto. In the new world, Retsu sets out to prove the strength of Chinese martial arts against swords, magic, and powerful creatures. The manga launched in Akita Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2020. Eiji Mutsui is drawing the manga, while Keisuke Itagaki and Sai Ihara are credited for the original concept and story, respectively. As of August 2026, the series has surpassed 2 million copies in circulation across print and digital editions. Akita Shoten published the first compiled book volume in May 2021 and the 16th volume on March 6. The 17th volume will ship on September 8. TMS Entertainment continues its involvement with the franchise following Baki, Baki Hanma, and BAKI-DOU.

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend Film Unveils Second Trailer, Theme Song

The official website for the Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend anime film presented the second full trailer, a key visual, a character visual for Miori Mitō, the theme song, and advance screening details on Sunday. The film is the latest anime adaptation of Hajime Kamoshida's Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series, and it is positioned as taking the story toward its finale. It shares its name with the 15th and final novel volume. The theme song is "Suihei-sen wa Boku no Furukizu finale" (The Horizon Is My Old Wound: Finale), performed by the character Tōko Kirishima. Tōko Kirishima also performs the song "Turn the World Upside Down" in the film. KADOKAWA will have a booth at Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2026 Chaldea School Festival on August 1-2, 2026, at Makuhari Messe. The booth will sell advance items from 14 Fate-related works, including newly illustrated goods for Fate/Grand Order: Fujimaru Ritsuka Doesn't Get It, Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Silver Blue, and others. Hayakawa Publishing released "There Is No Antimemetics Division" on July 15 under its Hayakawa Bunko SF label. The horror sci-fi novel, written by qntm and translated by Masato Naruniwa, originates from the SCP Foundation. It depicts a secret organization confronting antimemes, entities that erase themselves from memory. Author Li called it "overwhelmingly, crushingly interesting."

CloverWorks POP UP SHOP 2026 Tour Announced for Three Cities

CloverWorks announced a regional tour of its POP UP SHOP 2026 event, starting January 16 in Ebetsu, Hokkaido, followed by Nagoya in February and Kochi in March. The pop-up shops will sell merchandise for series including My Dress-Up Darling, Wind Breaker, Bocchi the Rock!, Spy × Family, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and others. Limited quantities of past release goods and books will also be available. Each venue will display reproduction artwork and production materials, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the studio's animation process.
