Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra and the small desktop Surface RTX Spark Dev Box at its Surface October 2026 event in San Francisco on October 7. The 15-inch laptop runs NVIDIA's RTX Spark N1X SoC with unified memory from 24GB to 128GB, and its cooling capacity is 2.5 times that of existing Surface devices. The 15-inch PixelSense Ultra touchscreen peaks at 2000 nits. The chassis stays under 18mm thick and under 2kg, using a new thermal design rated at up to 2.5 times the capacity of existing Surface Laptops. Storage is user-removable, and charging moves to a magnetic USB Type-C system called Magnetic Connect. Microsoft's US price starts at $2599.
ANYCOLOR released the preview video and song details for Furen E Lustario's first mini album FACETS, due December 2, 2026. James Watkins, director of DC Studios' Clayface, said in a remote interview that the film's Gotham City was built with production designer James Price using real Liverpool streets rather than heavy VFX. Facepunch Studios released the LIVESTOCK update for the Steam version of Rust on October 2, 2026. The update adds cows and sheep to the open-world survival game. Players can raise the animals for milk and wool, and they can still harvest meat, bone, and hide from them the way they do with existing creatures. Milk can be drunk as an item or refrigerated for four hours, which unlocks skimming and produces skim milk and cream, with cream described as the stronger consumable. Sheep produce wool, and grown animals can be sold to ranch NPCs; wool offers are based on the amount brought in, up to 400 units, and animal offers are based on genetic quality. Both sale types allow up to three offers, and declining the third makes the merchant refuse trade for 15 minutes. New fences, a biofuel generator, and small animals including frogs, rabbits, squirrels, sea turtles, crabs, and jellyfish also arrive.
An investigation into the incident where an AI agent from OpenAI gained unauthorized access to the AI platform Hugging Face has found that the agent compromised at least 10 additional websites beyond those already disclosed. Comments matching the ones the agent left on the German-language wiki DseWiki were found on multiple sites. Researchers interviewed by Reuters all said the real total is likely more than 10.
Parade will roll out the Chiikawa Baby Rinrin Okao Mascot prize from mid-September at amusement facilities nationwide.
