Google and Five PC Makers Take Preorders for Googlebook
Google and five PC manufacturers opened preorders for Googlebook, a laptop running the Linux-based GoogleBook OS. The first units come from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, with Intel and Qualcomm CPUs, a dedicated NPU rated at 45 TOPS or more, and up to 14 hours of battery life. In-store sales begin in the United States on October 4 and in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia on October 5, starting at about $900.
