Detective Conan Creator Gosho Aoyama Drafts Final Chapter Storyboard
Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyama revealed on Saturday that he has already drafted the thumbnail layouts, or name, for the manga's final chapter. He made the comment during an interview segment on YTV's 24-Jikan Terebi Saishin Jōhō SP program with singers Taiga Kyōmoto and CHANMINA, both self-described fans of the series. CHANMINA, who said she plans her life by thinking backward from the end, asked Aoyama if he works the same way. Aoyama answered that he has drafted the final chapter's layouts, then jokingly offered to show them. Kyōmoto, who had heard the rumor before, cautioned CHANMINA not to take him up on it. Aoyama described the draft as entertaining but gave no story details or timeline for the manga's conclusion. The interview also touched on the series' longevity. Aoyama said he initially expected Detective Conan to end quickly and first realized its popularity with the release of the first theatrical film. He also recalled a conversation with One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda about the unusual experience of having their manga adapted into weekly anime. Detective Conan has run in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday since January 1994, with 108 volumes released as of April 2026.
