Isamu Imakake's 'Dragon Heart' Sets U.S. Digital Debut
Isamu Imakake's feature film 'Dragon Heart: Adventures Beyond This World' will debut on U.S. digital platforms on March 3, following a 250-screen theatrical run in Japan last year. Freestyle Digital Media acquired the U.S. rights. The film follows Ryusuke, a Tokyo junior high student who, after an accident at the Anabiki River, and his cousin Tomomi awaken in a spirit realm where they must discover their true purpose to return to the living world. The feature was written and produced by Ryuho Okawa, with a screenplay credited to the Dragon Heart - Adventures Beyond This World Scenario Project. Animation was handled by HS Pictures Studios in Japan, with 3D work overseen by VFX creative supervisor Yumiko Awaya. The English-language dub features Zach Aguilar and Ren Holly Liu. Imakake described the film as a spiritually driven fantasy aimed at younger audiences grappling with existential questions, drawing from Buddhist, Hindu, and other spiritual iconography.
