HATEandTEARS' Kayo Launches Solo Project Kanade Miru

Kayo, leader of Nagoya-based electro x hip-hop x idol group HATEandTEARS, is launching the solo project Kanade Miru. The first single, SUN LAND SUN, releases worldwide on August 14, 2026. The project moves beyond the group's SHOCK POP framework, pursuing more personal expression as an individual artist.

Mahjong Pros Licenses Bird and Akayoroshi Manga

Mahjong Pros Publishing announced at San Diego Comic-Con that it has licensed two new manga: Bird, a mahjong gambling thriller about an illusionist and an undefeated cheater, and Akayoroshi: Hanafuda Shadow Games, a historical thriller set in 1876 Yokohama. Both are set for release in November 2026.

Live-Action Look Back Film Casts Masaki Suda, Sets September 11 Opening

The live-action film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's Look Back one-shot manga has revealed a new trailer, six additional cast members, and a September 11 opening date in Japan. Masaki Suda plays editor Maeda, with Kankurō Kudō, Kayo Noro, Ryō Ikeda, Miyu Sasaki, and Maho Yamada also joining. GKIDS will release the film in North America, the U.K., and Ireland in 2026.

Kayoko Ishikawa Design Works TEATRO Art Book Releases July 15

Animator and illustrator Kayoko Ishikawa, known for her work on the Aikatsu! series and Yuri!!! on ICE, will release her first art book, Kayoko Ishikawa Design Works TEATRO, on July 15 through publisher BNN. The book collects over 500 illustrations spanning 12 titles, including character designs, layout drawings, and ED video sketches, plus new art and an interview.

Kayoko Ishikawa's First Art Collection 'TEATRO' to Release in July

Animator Kayoko Ishikawa, known for her design work on 'Aikatsu!', will release her first art collection 'Kayoko Ishikawa Design Works TEATRO' on July 15. The 184-page volume from BNN includes over 500 illustrations, covering her work on 'Aikatsu!', 'Sarazanmai', 'LUPIN the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine', and nine MAPPA titles including 'Yuri!!! on ICE', 'Chainsaw Man', and 'Zenshu.' It also features new drawings, an interview, and commentary.
