Maneater 2 Announced at State of Play, Shark RPG Targets 2027
Tripwire Interactive announced Maneater 2 during Sony Interactive Entertainment's State of Play broadcast on September 3. The title is a sequel to the 2020 open-world action RPG Maneater, in which players control a great white shark surviving across an open-water setting. The announcement arrived with a trailer showing the shark confronting prey in a seaside theme park, where the creature grows into an aberrant form while causing numerous casualties. The footage also depicts the shark attacking beings larger than itself. Maneater 2 is planned for release within 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2, according to the sources. The original game followed a baby shark whose mother was killed by humans, with the player growing and evolving while taking revenge on humanity. Details about the sequel's story and gameplay systems have not yet been disclosed, with Tripwire Interactive indicating that further information will arrive later.
