Kotobukiya is re-releasing the plastic model "Tachikoma with Motoko Kusanagi & Batou" from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The 1/35 scale kit features opening hatches, a movable head sensor, and optional parts including a gatling gun and unpainted figures of Batou and Miki. Reservations close September 15, with release scheduled for April 2027 at 4,950 yen.

Riddle Kamimura released the 26th and final chapter of the Mikiri Kara Hajimeru Garyū Kenjutsu manga adaptation on August 8. The series, based on Hisumi's light novel, launched in Mag Garden's Mag Comi website in June 2023. Mag Garden published the fourth compiled volume in October 2025.

The immersive music live 'Belle' has revealed its protagonist LAYRA, a new virtual artist debuting under Sony Music's Echoes label. Five vocalists, miwa, Konomi Suzuki, Natsumi Kon, ASCA, and Maria Miki, will play the role. Rira Ikuta and Tomoyo Kurosawa join the cast, and the opening song is previewed.

Wit Studio opened pre-orders for a 1/6 scale Nameless figure to mark the 10th anniversary of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. The figure is based on a new illustration by Haruhiko Mikimoto and the commemorative animation Nameless Ranman, directed by Tetsuro Araki, with both supervising the project.

TOHO and Anime Limited have announced Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Takashi Yamazaki's Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. A new teaser trailer and poster were released on July 9, 2026, confirming that Min Tanaka joins the cast as biologist Kanji Murakami. Returning cast members include Ryūnosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, and Hidetaka Yoshioka from the first film. The film is the first Japanese production to be advertised as 'Filmed for IMAX.' It will open in Japan on November 3, 2026, which is Godzilla Day, commemorating the original 1954 film's release. The same week, it will open in North America on November 6, and in the United Kingdom and Ireland on November 6 as well, distributed by Anime Limited. This marks the first time a Japan-produced Godzilla film will open near-simultaneously in Japan and major Western markets. Yamazaki returns as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor, with Naoki Satō composing the music. Production is underway at TOHO Studios with ROBOT and Shirogumi.

The Digimon Beatbreak anime will begin its Kyō Arc on July 12, starting with episode 38. The arc introduces a new character, Sōji Kuroshio, voiced by Shinichirō Miki, a former member of the Five Elements Star who has lost all emotion and is obsessed with Kyo Sawashiro. A new visual was also revealed.

Designer Mikio Sakabe, under the label MIKIOSAKABE, has announced a collaboration with the Evangelion series. Seven types of shoes and bags will be released, incorporating visual elements from the series. Orders open July 8 through the MIKIOSAKABE & JennyFax online store, with an in-person order event in Tokyo on July 18-19.

Mikihisa Konishi announced on X that the Petals of Reincarnation manga will end with its 25th volume, as the story enters its final battle. The manga launched in 2014 and recently received a television anime adaptation that premiered in April 2026.

The intellectual entertainment group QuizKnock will collaborate with the long-running manga and anime series Bonobono for the latter's 40th anniversary of serialization and 10th anniversary of its TV anime, as well as QuizKnock's own 10th anniversary. Eight QuizKnock members will make guest appearances in the Bonobono TV anime for four consecutive weeks, starting with the August 8 broadcast on Fuji TV at 5:22 a.m. Each member will voice a character designed by anime director Hidenori Yamaguchi based on their personal traits and favorite animals. The characters include Raizawa (Takashi Izawa), Makemo P (P Fukuura), Kawamajiro (Takuya Kawamura), Suggafuro (Shunki Sugai), Yamamori (Yoshiaki Yamamoto), Tsurupen (Shuko Tsurusaki), Takomon (Higashimon), and Takogon (Higashigoto). Alongside the anime appearances, a collaboration video titled "Can a Quiz King Also Guess the Lines from the Manga Bonobono!?" will be released on the QuizKnock to Manabou YouTube channel on June 26 at 7 p.m. In late July, rubber strap merchandise featuring all eight characters alongside Bonobono will go on sale for 1,400 yen each.

Mikito Chinen has launched a new manga series titled Prometheus Taisen on Kadokawa's ComicWalker platform, with art by Kiyo Hasui. The story is set in 2045 after a calamity, where humanity fights back against monsters called "insects" using a guardian named Prometheus. The series follows orphan Jun Amamiya, who merges with biocomputer cells to protect the Earth.

The television anime adaptation of Jura's manga Kanojo no Tomodachi has announced its cast, staff, and an October 2026 premiere date. Ryūga Nagai, Sayahana Hanemurasaki, and Miki Hase lead the cast. Takashi Andō directs at Quad, with WWWave Corporation's Deregula label producing.

A story guide for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was released on June 4. The single volume condenses the first part of the manga into about 600 pages, using selected episodes from 20 volumes, story digests, and columns. The cover is newly drawn by Mikio Ikemoto, and a double-sided pinup poster is included. Volume 8 of the second part, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, also launched today.

The anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's manga has added Shinichirō Miki to the cast as Ivan Yosano, a mysterious daemon user who debuted in episode 6. The series premiered on April 4 and is set for two consecutive cours on Crunchyroll.

Mikito Chinen and Eri Takenashi's The Killer Angel Within: Ameku Takao's Detective Karte manga will end with its third compiled volume, shipping July 7. The manga launched in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine in September 2024.
