Google Pixel Tag Item Tracker Launches in November
Google has announced its first official item tracker, the Google Pixel Tag, which will launch in Japan around November 11, 2026. The device is priced at 5,010 yen for a single unit and 16,940 yen for a set of four. It is compatible with smartphones running Android 9 or later and uses Google's Find Hub network for location tracking. The Pixel Tag features IP67 water and dust resistance, a compact body measuring 46.1 x 28 x 5.4 mm, and a weight of 11.8 g. It runs on a replaceable CR2032 button cell battery with a battery life of over one year. The tag supports Bluetooth Channel Sounding and ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless technology, allowing compatible smartphones like the Pixel 11 Pro to display detailed distance and direction to the tag. Users can also link the tag with Pixel devices such as the Pixel Watch for location checks and sound alerts, and can use Gemini via Pixel Buds to trigger alerts. The Pixel Tag is positioned as a competitor to Apple's AirTag, with a similar price point in the US at 29 dollars for one and 99 dollars for four.
