Frontier Developments released a gameplay trailer for Planet Zoo 2 during the PC Gaming Show 2026 on June 8. The sequel adds fully aquatic species and flying animals, letting players build custom zoos and wildlife sanctuaries. It is scheduled for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Frontier Developments announced on May 28, 2026, that Planet Zoo 2, the sequel to the 2019 zoo management simulation game, will launch on October 13, 2026, for PC (Steam and Epic Games), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are now open. The game introduces fully aquatic species and flying animals for the first time in the series, along with customizable aquariums and aviaries. A new conservation feature lets players restore wildlife sanctuaries and release animals into natural environments. The sequel also includes updated graphics, dynamic water physics, and animal AI that reflects mood. Four new architectural themes and five from the original game are available for zoo building. Game modes include Career, Franchise, and Sandbox, plus cross-platform blueprint sharing via the Frontier Workshop. The Standard Edition costs 6,200 yen on Steam and Epic Games, and around 5,600 yen on console stores. The Deluxe Edition is 8,000 yen on PC and 7,700 yen on consoles. The original Planet Zoo and its DLC are on sale until June 5. More details are expected at the Wholesome Games showcase on June 6 and the PC Gaming Show on June 7.
