Dark Fantasy SRPG Twilight Expeditionary Force Launches on Steam Early Access
Firesquid released the Early Access version of the simulation RPG Twilight Expeditionary Force on Steam on July 27, 2026. The game, developed by Quickfire Games, is set in the dark fantasy continent of Statera, which has been corrupted by an ancient calamity called Dark Pain. Players take on the role of Soren, a retired blacksmith, who gathers companions to fight against the maddened Ashen Holy Order and grotesque monsters that invade through rifts in the Veil, a barrier separating the real world from supernatural forces. The Early Access version features nine playable characters, with players selecting five from eight classes, including ranged attackers, magic support, and assassins. Each character has up to 25 skills and two skill trees, allowing for unique builds and synergies. Combat is turn-based on a grid, with terrain such as elevation, cover, and environmental gimmicks affecting the battlefield. The world map includes subquests and random events, and companions can be dispatched on missions to gather resources for crafting and upgrading equipment at the base. The original soundtrack includes contributions from composer Kumi Tanioka, known for her work on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Minecraft. The regular price is 2,600 yen, with a 10% discount to 2,340 yen until August 11. The Early Access period is planned to last one year, with the full version adding more than 20 playable characters, world missions, and raids.
