Toshiba To Double HDD Capacity By Fiscal 2027, Sending Rival Shares Down
Toshiba plans to double its HDD production capacity for AI data centers by the end of fiscal 2027, measured against a 2025 baseline. Nikkei Asia reported the plan, and shares of Western Digital and Seagate fell by more than 10%. Toshiba is spending roughly 60 billion yen to expand a Philippines factory that makes key components for AI infrastructure, and it targets a share increase from about 10% to 30%.
