SpiralAI announced SpiralLLM on October 21, 2026, an orchestration model for entertainment that grew out of RyzaChat, the AI chat RPG it runs under license from Koei Tecmo Games since August 25, 2026. Instead of leaving everything to one model, SpiralLLM picks specialized AIs and processes for conversation, long-term memory, game state, story progression, and consistency checks, and reconciles their output. SpiralAI has filed patents on the functions.

SpiralAI announced on October 21, 2026 the launch of SpiralLLM, an orchestration model for the entertainment domain. The model bundles specialized AIs handling conversation, worldview reference through RAG, long-term memory, relationship understanding, status parameters, story progression and consistency verification. SpiralAI describes it as an AI game master, modeled on the game master of a tabletop RPG, that selects the right model or agent per scene and reviews generated output before returning a response. The company says patents are pending on these function groups. SpiralLLM grew out of development of RyzaChat: A Summer Dream Story Made with AI Ryza, a free-scenario AI chat RPG licensed from Koei Tecmo Games that began service on August 25, 2026. SpiralAI says the title handles voice and illustration assets through specialist creators and includes a mechanism to return royalties to IP holders and creators based on the material used.

SpiralAI said on September 29 that it will change the specifications of RyzaChat:AI, its licensed AI chat RPG set in the Atelier Ryza world, to restrict what users can enter. The company cited prompt injection attempts by some users and said it does not tolerate attempts to make characters say things contrary to public order and morals. An AI model update is planned for October.

SpiralAI and Koei Tecmo Games announced new content plans for RyzaChat:AI: The Summer Dream Story You Create with Ryza during a Koei Tecmo Games stage at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The free scenario-based chat-format RPG, available on iOS and Android, is set to add skins based on newly drawn illustrations of Ryza from across the Atelier Ryza series. The near-term additions are a China dress skin and a Halloween skin, both listed as tentative, with more skins planned for December 2026 and January 2027. SpiralAI CEO Yuichi Sasaki said a multiplayer mode for up to four players and a Travel Mode that uses a map of Japan are still at the consideration stage. Cosplayer Suzura, who appeared on the stage, proposed a hand-drawn demon-style costume design, and Sasaki said he would pass feedback to the development team.

SpiralAI announced on September 18 that SophieChat:AI is in development, a free-scenario AI chat-format RPG set in the world of Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. Players travel, synthesize, and fight by talking. The reveal came during a Koei Tecmo Games stage event at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to September 21. Voice actress Yuka Aisaka, who voiced Sophie, demonstrated the development demo version on the streamed stage. The game follows RyzaChat:AI: The Story of Just One Summer You Create with Ryza, which SpiralAI launched in August 2026 under license from Koei Tecmo Games. That title slipped from its planned August 18 release to August 25 to strengthen servers after pre-registrations exceeded expectations. The same stage confirmed that the Ryza app will add skins drawn from new Ryza illustrations across the series, starting with a cheongsam and a Halloween skin.

A playable demo of ReBlade: The Death Spiral at Bilibili World 2026 reveals a top-down roguelike with a parry system, weapon customization via IC chips, and a boss fight against a yokai named Zhang Yu Ge. Developer ChillyRoom, known for Soul Knight, has been working on the game for three years with a team of seven and is in its final stages.

Koji Suzuki, the novelist who created the Ring horror franchise and helped launch the J-horror boom in the west, died in a Tokyo hospital on Friday. He was 68. His 1991 novel Ring spawned films, manga, and spinoffs, and his other works include Dark Water, Spiral, and Loop.
