The Escapists 3 Announced For 2027 With 3D Visuals And 4-Player Co-Op
Team17 announced The Escapists 3 during The Triple-i Initiative October 2026 showcase, which streamed on October 9. The prison escape simulation is planned for release in 2027 on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The series moves from pixel art to a comical 3D style, and the game supports up to four players in co-op. Players live as an inmate and build an escape route by studying guard schedules, crafting items, digging tunnels, and finding secret passages. The game has more than 120 items and weapons that can be looted or crafted, and almost all of them can become parts of an escape plan. Inside the prison, players can search cells, make deals with other inmates, and take on jobs to obtain supplies. The announcement trailer showed escapes through ducts, tunnels, and a fence cut with wire cutters, plus a parachute jump from the rooftop as guards and searchlights gave chase.
