Darkest Dungeon 10th Anniversary DLC The Fire's Edge Launches August 19

Red Hook Studios began distributing the new DLC 'The Fire's Edge' for 'Darkest Dungeon' on August 19, 2026, marking the game's 10th anniversary and the first DLC in six years since 'The Butcher's Circus' in 2020. The DLC is priced at 800 yen on Steam and adds two classes from the sequel 'Darkest Dungeon 2': the Duelist and the Runaway. The Runaway is an offensive class that uses the new 'Burn' combat system and can be effective from any position, while the Duelist is a complex offensive class that switches between attack and defense stances. The DLC also introduces three new village districts: Academy Duello, Craftsman's Workshop, and Archaeological Base, plus a trinket system with conditional triggers, quest charges, and evolving trinkets. The launch trailer was released on August 18, 2026, and the DLC is scheduled for PC (Steam, Epic Games, Microsoft Store), Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, though Japanese console availability is not yet confirmed. A concurrent Steam sale discounts the base game to 435 yen (85% off) and the Ancestral Edition bundle to 2329 yen (64% off) until September 2.

Darkest Dungeon Gets First New DLC in 6 Years, The Fire's Edge

Red Hook Studios announced on July 22 that a new DLC for the original Darkest Dungeon, titled The Fire's Edge, will launch on August 19. This is the first major content update for the 2016 turn-based roguelike RPG in six years, following the 2020 DLC The Butcher's Circus. The Fire's Edge introduces two new hero classes imported from the sequel Darkest Dungeon II: the Duelist, who switches between Attack and Defense stances, and the Runaway, who applies a Burn debuff for continuous damage. The DLC also adds new battle systems, trinkets with conditional triggers and quest charges, and three new village districts: Academy Duelo, Artisan Workshop, and Archaeological Base. Notably, the DLC does not include new voice-over narration; the game's narrator, Wayne June, passed away in January 2025. The developer stated that only narration for the ported heroes from Darkest Dungeon II is included as a tribute. The DLC will be available on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG.com, and Microsoft Store, as well as PS4 and Nintendo Switch. An Xbox One version exists overseas but its availability for this DLC is unconfirmed.
