BYTEr Announces 'TIL THEY CROAK', A Melee Boomer Shooter With A Chest Bomb Timer
BYTEr has announced 'TIL THEY CROAK' for Steam. The release date and price are undecided, and the game does not currently support Japanese. The genre is boomer shooter, the label applied to first-person shooters that were popular in the 90s such as 'DOOM' and 'Quake'. Fast movement, a retro look, and health that does not regenerate on its own are standard traits of that group. This game keeps the speed and drops the shooting, so combat is melee only. The protagonist carries a bomb in their chest and must clear each stage within 10 seconds or it detonates. Taking hits shortens the timer, and killing enemies adds a little time back. A powerful enemy waits in each act. Punches combine with body-leaning motions to produce jabs, hooks, uppercuts, and hip drops, and landing them sends enemies flying or tears off limbs in a stylized way.
