Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics Announced as Turn-Based Strategy Game
Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics during the gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 broadcast on August 26. The game is a fully single-player turn-based tactical simulation, a departure from the series' usual first-person shooter format. It is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and Epic Games Store, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players command the Rainbow elite special forces unit from a commander's perspective, working to rebuild the organization after it has been devastated. The campaign features 15 operators from Rainbow Six Siege, with players building a four-person squad. Gameplay alternates between a strategy phase for base management and operator upgrades, and a tactics phase for missions. Missions include hostage rescue, bomb defusal, and elimination of VIP targets, beginning with drone reconnaissance and a breach planning phase. Stages are handcrafted with over 50 designs, and terrain destruction plays a central role in combat. The story follows Paul Bishop, protagonist of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, as he becomes the Rainbow commander known as Six.
