RIOT MUSIC and Culture Entertainment have announced the full performer list for ESPERA -AdHoc Live Festival 2026-, a virtual music festival on VRChat running November 20 to 22, 2026. The first two days are free, and the November 22 final day is ticketed. Performers include Kiwa Suu, VESPERBELL, Yomi, Kizuna AI, Harusaruhi, Tsukishiro Rui, Shirakawa Shirase, Shikibu Meguri, and Doo/Sakujaku kaza. Tickets went on sale October 24 on ZAIKO, with S tickets at 15,000 yen, on-site tickets at 4,000 yen, and streaming tickets at 3,000 yen.

PANORA, MyDearest, STYLY and Hashilus will run a joint booth, Cutting-Edge! XR Hiroba in Machi★Asobi, on October 17-18 at Amico in Tokushima. The booth is free and includes STYLY's location-based entertainment content, Hashilus's Hello! PokoPii! XR experience, a tutorial area for the Chou Kaguya-hime! Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving Festival world in VRChat, and MyDearest's The Exit 8 VR and Crowbar Climber.

SmashCore Entertainment will take orders for the Yuki Yomichi model of its voice actor digital clock series C'CLOCK starting at noon on October 7, 2026. The 51st installment carries over 130 newly recorded lines and lets buyers have the name they specify recorded by Yomichi herself. Orders run in four phases over one year, each with a special order period and a general order period.

A limited-time pop up shop for the TV anime Yomi no Tsugai will run from October 2 to 12 at Bushiroad Creative Store Akihabara Main Store in Tokyo. It sells goods built on newly drawn rear-angle illustrations, including diorama acrylic stands at 2,200 yen, trading can badges at 550 yen, and trading mini clear colored paper at 880 yen, plus clear files, frosted glass, acrylic clips, candy boxes, stickers, and acrylic blocks. Buyers spending 3,000 yen per transaction get one of five clear bookmarks while supplies last.

Aiichiro Oga of ALGO ARTIS has released "yomiyasu" under the MIT License, a skill that rewrites awkward AI-generated Japanese into readable prose for practical documents like technical articles and design specs. It runs inside AI coding environments such as Cursor and Claude Code and works through seven transformation principles. A bundled checker scores remaining AI-likeness on a 100-point scale. Oga describes it as personal research, not a company product.

Yomi Hirasaka, author of Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends and A Sister's All You Need., confirmed on September 13 that he retired as a light novelist. He said the reason was FIRE, the Financial Independence, Retire Early movement, and not lack of success or mental health. He was answering a social media post that speculated about his mental health after negative feedback to A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics and that series' final volume.

The first episode of the information program "Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving Festival INFO" revealed the VR Tsukuyomi World and 3D models of Sakayori Iroha and Tsukimi Yachiyo. The tutorial area opens on VRChat at midnight on Friday, September 25, and the free live "Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving Festival ~Mecha Uma Pancake Party~" runs December 26 at 21:00 on the film's official YouTube and VRChat.

Square Enix announced Fullmetal Alchemist merchandise featuring dot art by Kazuko Shibuya, creator of dot characters for games including the Final Fantasy series. Items go on sale October 1 at TSUTAYA IP bookstores and October 14 at the Fullmetal Alchemist x Yomi no Tsugai Exhibition Hokkaido venue, with early release at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

A live program announcing the release date of BanG Dream! Our Notes will air September 13 from 21:00 to 22:30 on YouTube. The cast includes Hina Youmiya, Yuzuki Watase, Nonoka Miyanaga, Asaki Yuikawa, and Kana Hishikawa. The rhythm game is scheduled for 2026 and is free to play.

Colopl will end the Devil May Cry collaboration content in the Steam version of KAZUMA KANEKO'S TSUKUYOMI after finding that internal confirmation procedures were deficient. Steam store sales paused on September 4, 2026. Players who already bought the game can keep playing during the pause. A patch expected around late September will remove the collab content. Refund handling is still being confirmed. The Switch version is unchanged and keeps the collaboration.

BeXide released Fruit Mountain Lite for iOS and Android on August 27. The free-to-play version of the paid puzzle Fruit Mountain adds a voice for main character Art-chan, performed by Yuki Yomichi, and includes online rankings with a separate leaderboard for Lite players.

Bandai Spirits is launching a new Gundam figure brand called ABSOLUTE ACT, built around the ABSOLUTE ACTION SYSTEM for articulation. The first entry is the Strike Freedom Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, which received its world first display at TOKYO Toy Show 2026, running from August 27 to August 30, 2026. The approximately 185mm tall ABS/PVC figure features movable mechanisms in the neck, shoulders, and waist, plus a waist rail mechanism and shoulder pull-out mechanism for dynamic posing. It includes a high-energy beam rifle, two beam sabers, a connected saber handle, two beam shields, interchangeable wrist parts, and a base with a bendable support rod. Reservations begin August 27, 2026, at general retail stores, with release scheduled for March 2027 at 16,500 yen including tax. TOKYO Toy Show 2026's first two days are trade-only, with public access on August 29 and 30. The show also featured other Gundam items at the Bandai Spirits booth, including Gundam Miximize Gundam Zero and HG 1/144 Gundam Zero.

Bandai Namco Filmworks announced at Anime NYC 2026 that the Fool Night anime will stream worldwide on Netflix starting November 26, with all episodes released at once. The series is the first collaboration between Sunrise and Shaft, directed by Atsuyuki Yukawa, who previously worked as a unit director on Suzume. The second teaser trailer and new cast were revealed alongside the date. Junya Enoki voices Akira Yatsuki, deputy head of the personnel department at the Fourth Tenka Institute; Aya Endo voices Saeko Kano, a former soldier and Akira's bodyguard; and Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi voices Jin Hiragishi, head of the 'Nashi Division' who hires protagonist Toshiro Kamiya. Previously announced cast includes Kouki Uchiyama as Toshiro Kamiya and Minako Kotobuki as Yomiko Horai. The staff includes series composer Jin Tanaka of Oshi no Ko, character designer Robert Sato, sound director Yota Tsuruoka, and music composer Tatsuya Kato of Dr. Stone. The manga by Kasumi Yasuda has been serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior since November 2020, with 13 volumes released.

Anime! Anime! reader poll for 2026 summer anime ending themes ran July 16-23, with sequels and second cours drawing the most votes. The ED for "Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! 2" took first place, followed by "Yomi no Tsugai" second cour and "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4" second cour.

VISION's trading figure brand CHILLfigg announced Bakemonogatari as its 6th entry. The lineup includes six characters: Koyomi Araragi, Hitagi Senjougahara, Tsubasa Hanekawa, Shinobu Oshino, Nadeko Sengoku, and Mayoi Hachikuji. Figures are blind-box individual sales at 3,000 yen each, with a complete BOX at 18,000 yen guaranteeing all six. Reservations open August 7, 2026, with release scheduled for January 2027.

Game Spark and Inside published their weekly roundups of new game releases for the week of July 20-26, 2026, covering both Japan and North America. The most prominently highlighted titles include Splatoon Raiders for Nintendo Switch 2, DragonSword: Awakening for Windows PC, and KAZUMA KANEKO'S TSUKUYOMI for Windows PC. Nijimen published the results of a reader satisfaction poll for the 2026 spring anime season, conducted from July 2 to 16 with 696 votes. Yomi no Tsugai, the latest work by Hiromu Arakawa, ranked first with 75 votes, followed by Nihon Sangoku and Dr.STONE: Science Future 3rd Cour. The top 10 also included Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!, Akane-banashi, and others.

Kodansha's Morning magazine announced that Shū Okimoto and Koichi Suzuki's manga 'Vote Counter Victoria' (Hyōyomi no Victoria) will conclude in two chapters. The series, which launched in June 2024, follows an election consultant and a new politician challenging a long-serving mayor. The seventh compiled volume ships on July 22. Real-life political consultant Kumiko Suzuka supervised the story.

G-Mode announced on July 16, 2026, that the packaged version of "Minna de Kuuki Yomi. 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition +" will release on October 29, 2026, for 4,700 yen. Pre-orders opened the same day. The package bundles four titles: the base game "Minna de Kuuki Yomi. 4," the enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition," the DLC "Zettai Zetsumei" hen, and "G-MODE Archives Kuuki Yomi. 2," a re-release of the 2010 feature phone game "Kuuki Yomi. 2." The base game features 100 situations, a cooperative mode for two players, and three mini-games, with a story focusing on the protagonist's childhood. The Switch 2 Edition adds a mode using the Joy-Con 2's mouse operation for 20 questions and a competitive mode with five mini-games. The DLC adds 30 new situations themed on crises like zombie panic and alien encounters. The re-release of "Kuuki Yomi. 2" is the first time the feature phone game has been made available on modern hardware, though it is single-player and Japanese-only. Dengeki Hobby Web reports the July 3, 2026 Amazon Kindle manga bestseller list. Hunter x Hunter Monochrome Vol. 39 takes first place, with the color edition Vol. 38 at 17th. Other top sellers include Ossan Kensē Vol. 9 and Blue Giant Momentum Vol. 8. Pre-order titles like Yomi no Tsugai Vol. 13 and Tearmoon Empire @COMIC Vol. 12 also appear.

Tokyo-based AI animation company Puri Prince announced the second installment of its anime project, Dennō Isu Tantei Charlotte ~Dead Man's Hand~, a short series based on noriyang's web novel. The cast includes Hina Yomiya, Tomokazu Sugita, and others. The story follows a young detective and her AI partner investigating a cyber casino mystery.

The key visual, main PV, and theme song artists for the second cour of the Yomi no Tsugai TV anime have been revealed. The cour will air from July 4. The opening theme is "back shot" by Masanori Onda, and the ending theme is "Kujaku" by Kei Sugawara.

Colopl announced on June 24 that the PC version of KAZUMA KANEKO'S TSUKUYOMI, a deck-building roguelike by game creator Kazuma Kaneko, will launch on Steam on July 24. The standard edition costs 3,960 yen, and a Special Digital Deluxe Edition including the base game and two DLC packs will sell for 5,960 yen. The game was previously released for Nintendo Switch on April 23, 2026. It is set in a modern dark fantasy world where players climb a demon-infested tower called The Hashira in Tokyo Bay, using a three-card hand to battle Shinma (gods and demons). Five playable characters with distinct battle styles are available. The Steam version supports English and Japanese audio and text in English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean. On the same day, DLC Vol. 2, Painter K's Divine Brush: Truth Manifestation Set - Part 2, will launch for both Switch and Steam, adding five Creation Cards: Arianrod, Raphael, Banshee, Apollo, and Satan. The original free-to-play mobile and PC game, TSUKUYOMI - The Divine Hunters, ended service on April 22, 2026, and used generative AI for card art; the Switch and Steam versions do not use AI for new card creation.

Experience announced that internal stock of the Nintendo Switch dungeon RPG Demon Kill Demon: Yomi 1984 has sold out due to additional orders. The game, released May 28, is also sold out at many Yodobashi Camera stores. A restock is expected in about 20 days. The game ranked second in the Nintendo Store's download rankings.

The anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's manga Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Yomi no Tsugai) has released its first preview for the 9th episode, which airs on May 30, 2026. The series debuted on April 4, 2026, and streams on Crunchyroll. The manga, which began in 2021, has over three million copies in circulation. The anime is directed by Masahiro Ando with scripts by Noboru Takagi, character designs by Nobuhiro Arai, and animation production by Bones Film. The Japanese cast includes Kensho Ono as Yuru, Yume Miyamoto as Asa, Yuichi Nakamura as Dera, and others. The opening theme is "Tobu Toki" by Vandy, and the ending theme is "Tobo Yo" by yama. In a separate interview, English dub voice actors Ben Stegmair (Yuru) and Molly Zhang (Asa) discussed their approaches to the roles, with Stegmair noting he plays three distinct versions of Yuru and Zhang describing how she used a different voice for the fake Asa.

The staff for the television anime of Hiromu Arakawa's Daemons of the Shadow Realm confirmed two new cast members on May 16. Kappei Yamaguchi voices Hikaru Kagemori, and Yoshiko Sakakibara voices Kai. Both characters debuted in the seventh episode, which aired in Japan on the same day. The anime premiered on April 4 on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV, and is set to run for two consecutive cours. Crunchyroll streams the series with a same-day English dub. Masahiro Ando directs at Bones Film, with Noboru Takagi overseeing series scripts and Nobuhiro Arai handling character designs. Kenichiro Suehiro composes the music. Vaundy performs the opening theme "Tobu Toki," and yama performs the ending theme "Tobo yo." The manga, which Arakawa launched in Monthly Shonen Gangan in December 2021, has 12 compiled volumes as of March 2026. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes the English edition. The story follows twins Yuru and Asa, separated at a young age, who must reunite and claim their birthright over powerful entities called Daemons.
