GameMaker's GMRT Runtime Goes Free for Commercial Use on January 1, 2027
YoYo Games announced on October 23 that GameMaker Runtime, the next-generation runtime replacing GMS2 Runtime, will be free for commercial use starting January 1, 2027. Developers can then build and distribute PC and mobile games with GMRT at no cost. Console distribution still requires an Enterprise plan, and Professional subscribers keep commercial rights for GMS2 Runtime projects. GMRT entered open beta in July 2024 and is still in development.
