threezero Opens Preorders for MDLX Coronation Starscream and Hot Rod Figures
The second wave pulls its color schemes straight from the film, so the MDLX line now sells the movie's specific look rather than only its character roster, and preorders are running through Rakuten Books.
Reporting from 1 source: Dengeki Hobby Web.
threezero's MDLX Transformers line adds two figures modeled on the 1986 animated film's coloring, both now on preorder through Rakuten Books. Coronation Starscream stands about 20 cm with roughly 50 points of articulation and includes the crown, cloth cape, and detachable shoulder armor from the coronation scene. Hot Rod stands about 18 cm with roughly 46 points of articulation and carries a laser blaster, a blaster rifle, and eight interchangeable hands. The blasters combine into the Photon Eliminator.
The MDLX line's first wave was Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron. This second wave turns to the film's own palette: a gray Starscream and a Hot Rod in magenta, orange, and bright yellow. Both are non-transforming, fully articulated figures built on a die-cast zinc alloy and engineering plastic frame, with design arrangements by threezero art director Kelvin Sau. Coronation Starscream is a color variation of the standard MDLX Starscream already released overseas, and Hot Rod is a color variation of the standard MDLX Rodimus Prime. Reference prices are 25,850 yen for Starscream and 19,250 yen for Hot Rod.
