The second half of VIVANT Season 2 begins on October 4 on TBS, with six episodes left. The story picks up with a rescue mission to free a Besspan member held at Shaki Castle in the Republic of Golbad. Nogi, played by Masato Sakai, and Nokoru, played by Kazunari Ninomiya, plan to extract the member and escape on a private jet owned by Chokki, played by Ohm Thanapak. Producer Kazutaka Iida has said the back half contains about five big surprises, larger than those in the first half. A key problem is that Xinsi may have an HQ-9 surface-to-air missile, which would threaten the escape aircraft. The second half also brings Kaoru Yuki, played by Fumi Nikaido, out of Tokyo and onto the front lines after Nikaido took part in location shooting in Azerbaijan.
Kaoru Yuki is not the only character whose role expands in the second half. Jamin, played by Sae Honma, has the ability to see through people's good and evil, and Xinsi leader Han Linxin, played by Kyoko Miyashita, may want information about the disbanded group Tent and its orphanage because of Jamin. Scientist Elisha Mamadov, played by Manaf Dadashov, succeeded in sustaining nuclear fusion and was thought to have killed himself, but Xinsi is holding him, and his condition may be tied to Tent or Jamin.
Xinsi agent Ryu Minxuan, also played by Sakai, once loved Nozaki, played by Hiroshi Abe. Many predict she will help Nozaki and Drum, played by Tomiei Drum, escape, though that would be a serious betrayal for Xinsi. Drum drives a military-civilian four-wheel-drive van through an Azerbaijan shopping street in what is thought to be the escape scene. The side story Chingis -VIVANT THE ORIGIN STORY- began streaming on September 20, and Iida has said it contains foreshadowing for the second half. Kento Hayashi plays the younger Beki, and Koji Yakusho appears in the main role, though Beki is believed to have died in Season 1.
