Why it matters
The release continues D4 Enterprise's retro game preservation push on Switch, offering a rebalanced version of a foundational Falcom action RPG with modern quality-of-life additions.
The action RPG, originally by Nihon Falcom in 1984, features adjusted balance, new mechanics, and a Gallery mode with original materials.
The 109th entry in the EGG Console series, Dragon Slayer LEVEL 2.0 PC-8801, is now available on the Nintendo eShop for 880 yen. D4 Enterprise began distribution on July 23, 2026. The game is a rebalanced version of Nihon Falcom's 1984 action RPG, where a lone warrior seeks to defeat a three-headed dragon and recover four crowns.
Players start by finding a sword and can equip only one item at a time, switching between the Cross, Ring, Key, and Power Stone as needed. Experience points unlock magic like KICK, BREAK, FLY, and FREEZE. The LEVEL 2.0 version halves experience from monsters and adds new features: the Cross works on the ground, and the screen turns red when health is low. A Gallery mode lets players view the original manual and package design.
