Why it matters
The goods are timed to Penguin Years, the JR East Group's campaign expressing affection and gratitude toward the Suica Penguin character, so the merchandise calendar is being tied to the character's own promotion rather than to a general retail cycle.
Key Facts

The lineup includes a Penguin Years T-shirt at 3,850 yen, a five-piece sticker set at 800 yen, two drawstring bags at 800 yen, an oval can with Caffarel chocolates at 1,400 yen, and a four-piece ARIGATO Suica 25 sticker set at 640 yen.
The lineup splits into two design strands. Penguin Years pieces carry the key visual: the penguin looking up at a clear blue sky, printed on the front of the T-shirt and across the entire surface of the A4 clear file. The rest work from character motifs, including a sun-tanned penguin holding a surfboard on bright yellow fabric for the Konogari drawstring bag and a penguin bursting out of a large peach for the Momotaro bag.
One item is a collaboration with the Italian chocolate brand Caffarel: an oval can showing a penguin drawing a picture on omurice with ketchup, holding four foil-wrapped chocolates including gianduja. JR East warns access may concentrate immediately after sales begin and the site may temporarily become difficult to reach.
