ANBERNIC RG DDS Leans On Two Screens And A Snapdragon G2 Gen 2

ANBERNIC is copying the 3DS's shape and screen count without its defining 3D feature, which makes the RG DDS a handheld whose pitch rests on emulation and screen layout rather than hardware parity.

ANBERNIC RG DDS Leans On Two Screens And A Snapdragon G2 Gen 2

ANBERNIC is showing a dual-screen handheld called the RG DDS. The top display is about 4.7 inches at 1200x720, the bottom about 4 inches at 960x720, both at 300ppi and 500 nits, for a total pixel count reported as three times the Nintendo 3DS. It runs Qualcomm's Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 with a 6000mAh battery, and does not support glasses-free stereoscopic 3D.

The bottom screen carries the controls: joysticks, a directional pad, and A/B/X/Y buttons sit on either side of it. The Japanese official site says only "Two screens, one gaming experience," and a YouTube video from ANBERNIC calls the device a portable music player. In a first-look video, 3DS, Xbox, and PlayStation 3 games ran on it through emulators. That video is now private. ANBERNIC also sells the Game Boy Advance SP-style RGSP and the PlayStation Vita-style RG VITA.
