Guns of Eschaton Hands-On: Viktor Antonov Takes the Old West Occult

4divinity's new studio Eschatology Entertainment showed Guns of Eschaton at a business booth. The game is the first title from Viktor Antonov since he left ZeniMax in 2022. The hands-on covered an early stage where the protagonist uses multiple arms to parry bullets, negate damage, trigger slow-motion, and enter a counter state.

Guns of Eschaton is scheduled for release in 2026 with the price still to be determined. The demo presented at the 4divinity booth came with a direct lecture from Fuad, the game's creative director.

The setting is the American Old West, with dry wastelands, steam engines, and revolvers. Onto that orthodox base the game adds an occult spiritual catastrophe called The Burning, which causes aberrant lifeforms, abnormal plant growth, transformed steam locomotives, and a protagonist who gains multiple arms.

In the early stage played, the supernatural ability available was a bullet parry. The two extra arms act as a shield, and timing a parry with enemy weapon flashes or hammer sounds negates gunshot damage, triggers slow-motion on a perfect parry, and boosts counterattack damage.
