Taipei-based singer-songwriter LUCY released the new single LOOP on August 21, featuring Norwegian artist Moyka. The electronic pop track has LUCY singing in Chinese and Moyka in Norwegian, with the two languages overlapping within one song. It follows last month's Looking at me, her first new single in about two years.
LUCY and Moyka wrote the lyrics together, with LUCY, Moyka and Eirik Hella handling composition and production. Hella also arranged the track and handled vocal recording and mixing, while George Tandero mastered it.
LOOP centers on pain, fear, love and loss passed down across generations, framing these inherited burdens as an endless cycle. The song asks whether those emotions repeat within us from the past and whether that loop can be broken by our own hands.
LUCY won Best New Artist at Taiwan's Golden Indie Music Awards for her 2022 first album LUCY. Last month she released Looking at me, her first new single in about two years, which LOOP follows as the second single.
