The official website for the television anime adaptation of Iris and Noboru Kannatsuki's Magical Explorer light novel series announced on Friday that M.A.O will voice the character Nanami. M.A.O previously voiced Nanami in a promotional video for the original light novel series. The anime is set to debut in fall 2026. The cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki as Kōsuke Takioto, Ai Kakuma as Ludie, and Saori Ōnishi as Yukine Mizumori. Kazuki Ohashi is directing the anime at WHITE FOX, with Satoko Sekine handling series composition, Ryosuke Kimiya designing characters, and Kenichiro Suehiro composing the music. Yen Press publishes the light novel series and the manga adaptation. The story follows a protagonist reincarnated as the unlucky friend character in a legendary eroge who uses his game knowledge to lead heroines to happy endings. The light novel series began in February 2018 on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, and Kadokawa published the 13th volume on April 1. The manga adaptation launched in August 2020.
A new teaser visual featuring Nanami, dubbed the "Nanami Ver.," was released alongside the casting announcement. Nanami is a character who won first place in a voting project for Magical Explorer, and M.A.O had already voiced her in a promotional video for a new volume from Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko imprint. M.A.O commented on the role, saying she is happy to continue as Nanami, describing the character as a cool beautiful maid who is mischievous and relentlessly teases her beloved master. She expressed hope that viewers will look forward to the interactions between Kōsuke, who aims to become the strongest, and the charming heroines. The anime's staff includes director Kazuki Ohashi (Shadows House), series composer Satoko Sekine (TsukiPro the Animation), character designer Ryosuke Kimiya (Grimoire of Zero), and composer Kenichiro Suehiro (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-). Animation production is by WHITE FOX. The light novel series, originally published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, has 13 volumes as of April 1, and the manga adaptation by Yukari Higa has three compiled volumes as of January 8.
