Monster Hunter Wilds Free Update To Add Convenience Features Alongside Ascendance
Capcom is tying quality-of-life fixes to the expansion window instead of shipping them separately, which puts the long-requested Item Box change in front of players who never buy Ascendance.

Capcom announced on September 16 that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a free update alongside the 2027 expansion Ascendance. It adds a refinement update for non-buyers, faster weapon swapping, equipment changes at Item Boxes outside the tent, bulk item and equipment loadouts via Hunter Loadouts, and monster hitzone display. Kushala Daora, Teostra, Lao-Shan Lung, and the new Elder Dragon Gundraj appear, plus Master Rank and Boost Brace.
The free update also carries a refinement update for players who skip Ascendance, adding and adjusting weapon actions other than Boost actions. Boost Brace puts the hunter into a Boost State that temporarily lifts action performance and unlocks new derivations; the Boost Activation Action is one way in. Ascendance moves the game to land floating in the sky, adds Master Rank quests and Elder Dragons whose presence causes calamity-level effects. Introduction videos for all 14 weapon types went out the day before. Wilds is out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Switch 2 version on December 4.
