Universal Studios Japan begins selling a Resident Evil Licker popcorn bucket on September 9, timed to the 15th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights and the 30th anniversary of Capcom's Resident Evil series. The bucket is the park's first Resident Evil-design popcorn bucket, modeled on the Licker with its long tongue and sharp claws, and its head opens to hold miso-flavored popcorn. It sells at the Stage 22 popcorn cart.
Capcom announced September 8 that Arjun, the second Year 4 character for Street Fighter 6, releases October 13. Arjun is an Indian police officer framed for the murder of his partner Karna. His kit centers on recoverable damage: gray health that recovers over time but is lost if hit before recovery. Many specials accumulate it even when blocked. His moves use yoga breathing techniques, including projectiles, rock-based attacks, a counter stance, and a command grab that converts gray health to real damage.
Capcom opened the CAPCOM TGS SALE on September 8, 2026 across Steam and Epic Games Store, and the centerpiece is the first Steam discount for PRAGMATA, the studio's new IP sci-fi action adventure. The base game drops 20 percent from 7,990 yen to 6,392 yen, and the Deluxe Edition, which adds costumes, weapon skins, and Diana's emotes, falls from 8,990 yen to 7,192 yen. PRAGMATA follows Hugh, a researcher stranded on the Moon, and Diana, an android girl, as they try to return to Earth from an AI-controlled lunar world. Elsewhere in the lineup, Monster Hunter Wilds is 25 percent off, Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Biohazard Requiem are each 30 percent off, Biohazard RE:4 is 75 percent off at 997 yen, and Biohazard RE:2 and RE:3 are 80 percent off at 798 yen.
The Monster Hunter Now Carnival 2026: Osaka press event ran September 1 at Capcom headquarters. The real-world event takes over Osaka's Namba area on November 14-15, with producer Ryozo Tsujimoto revealing his main weapon in the game is the Sword and Shield, not the Hammer. The carnival also joins the Midosuji Challenge 2026 street event on November 7-8, and the game itself is approaching its third anniversary.
Capcom began distributing free Monster Hunter Rise collaboration costumes for Onimusha: Way of the Sword on September 7. The DLC adds two outfits: Yo no Kei for Oni no Kajin (Shizuka Gozen), modeled after village receptionist Hinoe, and Yomogi no Mai for Izumo no Okuni, modeled after tea house girl Yomogi. Both costumes change appearance only and carry no combat performance effects. Players equip them through the Hama Kagami menu's Yosooi no Henkou option, which unlocks progressively as the game advances. The DLC requires the base game and is available through digital stores. Capcom released Onimusha: Way of the Sword on September 4, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. It is the first new mainline entry in the sword-fighting series in about 20 years, following Shin Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams from 2006. The game is set in early Edo period Kyoto, where the demonic Genma have spread miasma, and follows Miyamoto Musashi, modeled on Toshiro Mifune, who gains the Oni Gauntlet and fights the invaders. Combat keeps the series' parry, repel, and Issen counter moves and adds a new Kuzushi Issen against enemies with broken stance. The standard edition costs 8,990 yen, the deluxe edition 9,990 yen, and the premium deluxe edition 10,990 yen, with a CERO Z rating for players 18 and older. Reviews were strong at launch: Metacritic scores at the time of writing were 89 for the Switch 2 version, 86 for PS5, 83 for Xbox Series X, and 82 for PC, with critics praising the combat and questioning the open-world elements. Capcom said the game is not a direct sequel but is built to be a starting point for new players.
Scopeley Explore and Capcom held a joint press conference on September 1 at Capcom's Osaka headquarters to announce Monster Hunter Now Carnival 2026: Osaka, the second real-world event for the location-based mobile game. The Carnival runs November 14 and 15, from 9:00 to 18:00 each day, with the main venue in the Namba area of Osaka's Chuo-ku, including Namba Parks, Shinsaibashi BIGSTEP, and designated areas along Midosuji. Tickets go on sale September 3 at 9:00 JST. Early-bird pricing through September 9 is 3,500 yen for a one-day pass and 4,000 yen for a two-day pass; regular prices are 4,000 and 5,000 yen. The event follows the 2024 Shibuya Carnival, which drew 20,000 players.
