Why it matters
The PS5 launch and the cheap upgrade pass put the same winter puzzle adventure on current hardware without asking existing Switch owners to buy the game twice.
Switch owners can move to the Switch 2 version with a 100 yen upgrade pass, and the Switch 2 and Switch versions are 20 percent off at 2,040 yen through September 29.
The release follows a puzzle adventure from the team behind Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, based on Tove Jansson's Moominland Midwinter. Moomintroll wakes from hibernation into a snow-covered Moomin Valley, meets new friends, takes requests from residents, and works through puzzles across snowy landscapes, forests, and mountains drawn from Nordic nature. The Switch 2 and PS5 versions run at higher image quality and frame rate than the earlier versions, which the publisher describes as smoother visuals.
