Naohito Fujiki will play yakuza No. 2 Michiaki Kai and Eiji Okuda will play boss Shogo Arishima in the Hulu original drama "Yagami Eiko -Ueno Central Police Station Organized Crime Countermeasures Division-" starring Meisa Kuroki. The series, based on Akiu Fukamachi's police novel series, premieres July 24 on Hulu.
Fujiki plays Michiaki Kai, the No. 2 of the Chinami-gumi yakuza group, who functions as its strategist and maintains a mutually exploitative relationship with Kuroki's detective Eiko Yagami. He said the role was challenging because the script lacked obvious violent or intimidating scenes, so he built the performance around the character's competence and economic rise within the organization. Okuda plays boss Shogo Arishima, who controls the Ueno area and holds information about the death of Eiko's husband. Okuda said he had long wanted to work with director Ryuichi Hiroki and focused on the atmosphere between himself and Kuroki. The first two episodes drop together on July 24, with new episodes every Friday.
