Pokemon HOME Adds GBA Icon For FireRed And LeafGreen
The transfer tool's menu label reads "Game Boy Advance series" rather than naming FireRed and LeafGreen alone, and that wording is what turned a routine compatibility update into speculation about further GBA ports.

The Pokemon Company finished maintenance on Pokemon HOME on October 7 and turned on connectivity with the Nintendo Switch version of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Players can now move Pokemon caught in FireRed and LeafGreen into the cloud service and carry them into other Pokemon titles. The transfer runs one way, so Pokemon sent to Pokemon HOME cannot go back to FireRed and LeafGreen. Completing the Kanto Pokedex (GBA) in the smartphone version of Pokemon HOME earns a Celebi housed in a Cherish Ball with the original trainer name Mitsurin. The same update raised the Pokemon HOME Premium Plan deposit ceiling from 6,000 to 9,000 Pokemon, with the plan's fee unchanged. Pokemon HOME is free to use on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. FireRed and LeafGreen arrived on Nintendo Switch on February 27, 2026 as a port of the 2004 Game Boy Advance remake of the original Red and Green.
The label players see after opening the Game Boy Advance icon in the Switch version of Pokemon HOME reads "Bring Pokemon from the Nintendo Switch Game Boy Advance series." FireRed and LeafGreen were originally released for Game Boy Advance in 2004 as remakes of the original Red and Green, and the other Game Boy Advance titles in the series are Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. As of October 7, 2026, no port of Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald to Nintendo Switch has been announced. Community attention on the "series" phrasing is speculation, not confirmed plans.
Two other details sit closer to the update itself. Pokedex registration inside FireRed and LeafGreen carries over to the linked Pokedexes in Pokemon HOME, so players do not need to move Pokemon they intend to keep in the Game Boy Advance title in order to fill the Kanto Pokedex (GBA). Pokemon Bank is scheduled to end service on February 26, 2027, and the migration function from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon HOME ends the same day.
