Mencocco, a local VTuber project for the Shonai region of Yamagata Prefecture, will hold its official debut stream on October 7. Minato Akari Ruru, who covers Sakata City, is introduced at 20:30, and Sakurajo Shiran, who covers Tsuruoka City, at 20:45. Both appear together at 21:00. Four days later, on October 11, the pair joins the Donshan Sakata Halloween Festival as the Sakata Halloween Cheering Squad.
The two members split the map. Minato Akari Ruru handles Sakata City and speaks in Shonai dialect; her charm point is black cat ears, and she names Hiyoriyama Park as her recommended spot. Sakurajo Shiran handles Tsuruoka City, uses polite speech, and is billed as a singing specialist with white dog ears who recommends Kamo Aquarium. Their costumes use a Japanese-Western fusion design that incorporates Shonai elements, handled by Yamatsuki Mari.
The project name comes from "menkoi," Shonai dialect for cute or beloved. The group says it wants to enjoy Shonai's food, culture, and daily life together with local friends rather than present it like a tourist guide.
