Kadokawa announced on Wednesday a television anime adaptation of Hidenori Yamaji's manga *Soara and the House of Monsters*, with a 2027 premiere window. The announcement came alongside an ultra teaser promotional video, an ultra teaser visual, and the reveal of the main cast and staff. Ikumi Hasegawa voices Soara, a girl raised to fight monsters who finds herself out of work when peace is declared. Ayumu Murase voices Kirik, a dwarf architect who builds homes for monsters. Takaharu Ozaki, known for *BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-* and *Goblin Slayer*, directs the series at FelixFilm. Ayumu Hisao handles series scripts, Tomoko Iwasa designs the characters, and Hinako Tsubakiyama composes the music. The manga launched on Shogakukan's Sunday Webry website in November 2021 and has seven compiled volumes, with the seventh releasing in Japan on August 10. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English edition. Yamaji also drew a commemorative illustration for the announcement.
Ozaki's previous directorial credits include Goblin Slayer and BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-, both dark fantasy action series. Hisao's script work includes Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring and I'm in Love with the Villainess. Iwasa previously designed characters for Hakumei and Mikochi and the WAVE!! -Let's go surfing!!- film trilogy. Tsubakiyama composed music for Sabikui Bisco and Shy.
The teaser trailer features Hasegawa and Murase's voices as their characters. Yamaji posted a commemorative illustration and said watching the anime staff build the project together reminded him of Soara and Kirik working side by side to construct homes. He said the collaborative effort has convinced him the adaptation will become a wonderful "house" in its own right.
Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga's story: Soara is a young orphan girl raised by knights and trained to battle monsters. When peace is declared, she has no purpose. She meets Kirik, leader of the Monster Architects, and begins building homes for monsters instead of fighting them. The manga launched on Shogakukan's Sunday Webry website in November 2021. Shogakukan published the first compiled volume in May 2022 and will release the seventh volume on August 10. Seven Seas released the sixth English volume on May 26.
