Starfield Mod Aims To Remove Loading Screens From Planetary Landings

A PC mod in development for Starfield allows seamless landings on planets and moons without loading screens. Developer Frederik Wessberg built it after finding it frustrating that landings were the only part of flight that required a loading screen. The mod hands the descent to full autopilot, letting players walk the ship interior, and adds cloud layers, thunderstorms, auroras, terrain shadows, and a reentry heat shield effect.

The mod is called Seamless Landings without loading screens, and it is being built by Frederik Wessberg for the PC version of Starfield. During the descent the ship flies itself, so the player can leave the cockpit seat and move around the interior. Landing on oceans is possible, and the descent includes cloud layers tied to weather systems, thunderstorms, auroras at the poles, terrain and cloud shadows, and an atmospheric reentry effect that sprays steam on the hull and leaves ash. Wessberg has posted a teaser. Mods carry their own risk.
